WA Cleanskin Cellars is Western Australia’s first and only dedicated cleanskin wine specialist. The company sells premium wines that do not bear the producers details, thus allowing for the consumer to buy at a lower price while also helping wineries sell their excess product as ‘cleanskin wines’ to generate cash flow without dilution of the wineries existing brands in the market place.
The wines are sold in the company’s own retail stores and wholesaled to other liquor stores, restaurants and to corporate clients, the latter two having the option of adding their own custom label which is designed and applied by WA Cleanskin Cellars.
The business was started 5 years ago, with the first store in Subiaco established by founder Marie Cloughley a previous 40 under 40 recipient in 2009.
Following a turbulent beginning in the Liquor Licensing and Supreme Courts of Western Australia to obtain liquor licences, the business has gone from strength to strength, maintaining strong growth and expanding rapidly. The company has used innovation to spur on growth, becoming the first franchise liquor store operation in Western Australia. Customers can also taste all of the cleanskin wines in store prior to purchase.
There are now seven WA Cleanskin Cellars retail outlets operating through metropolitan Perth and country areas under a franchise model and a number of new store locations in the pipeline.
The company aims to provide all of its customers with quality and value for money wines and a retail environment very similar to a winery cellar door where customers can try before they buy. All wines are subject to a money back guarantee and would sell for up twice the amount under their respective winery brands.
